Discover Al Fresco Dining in Tampa Bay

Artist’s Rendering – Westshore Marina District’s Restaurant

Thanks to its subtropical climate and year-round sunshine, Tampa is a fantastic city for al fresco dining. The concept may have originated in the rural Italian hills or on the streets of metropolitan Paris, but Tampa locals and visitors alike certainly know how to make the most of the fine natural light, relaxed setting and unique people-watching opportunities afforded by the city’s array of al fresco restaurants.

Residents in Marina Pointe’s contemporary waterfront condominiums will have all of the Westshore Marina District’s premier retail and dining right at their fingertips – not to mention its state-of-the-art marina. In addition to the retail center’s wine bar with tapas-style tasting menu, and California-inspired coffee bar and juice shop, an on-site restaurant located at the north end of the waterfront promenade promises to offer a seamless blend of indoor-outdoor dining, as well as limited slips for “boat up” guests.

For inspiration, we’ve outlined a selection of the best outdoor dining near Marina Pointe – from brunch and coffee to dinner and drinks.

Oystercatchers
Less than 8 miles from Marina Pointe via West Shore Boulevard, the Oystercatchers restaurant is tucked away in the lush tropical landscaping just 150 yards from Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay. It’s a great spot for dining al fresco and enjoying fresh, expertly prepared local seafood – the Sunday brunch is incredibly popular among those in the know, featuring an endless buffet, bottomless mimosas and impressive bay views.

Salt Shack on the Bay Restaurant

Salt Shack on the Bay
Right around the corner from Marina Pointe’s luxury condos, this new “rustic-refined” dining concept has quickly become one of Tampa’s favorite outdoor restaurants. Its Caribbean-inspired lunch and dinner menus include fresh seafood, signature cuisine and a selection of tropical signature cocktails, and nearly every seat in the house has striking vistas of Tampa Bay and the Gandy Bridge.

Stones Throw
Tampa’s Armature Works food hall is home to several restaurants with outdoor seating, and Stones Throw is the latest and greatest addition. Just walk up, snag a seat in the shade of an outdoor umbrella, and explore its short and simple seafood menu showcasing light bites, freshly caught fish and a raw bar. The raw bar cycles in a different selection of oysters each week and the “fresh catch” is served on a bun, in a bowl or taco-style – diners can also accompany their meal with a drink from the impressive menu of clear spirits, cocktails and invigorating spritz’.

M.Bird
Stop in for an al fresco nightcap at Armature Works’ luxurious, deco-inspired rooftop bar and lounge, which overlooks the Hillsborough River and glittering downtown skyline. This is a perfect place to listen to live DJs while indulging in shareable small plates and tropical curated cocktails, including a classic Hemingway Daiquiri, bold Mai Tai and crisp “fishbowl” caipirinhas. The bar is first-come first-served, and since it opened in 2019 it has quickly become one of the neighborhood’s hottest nightlife destinations.
